Islamic Society and Cultural Center of Hyde Park, Inc. (“ISCCH,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the ISCCH mobile application (the “App”) handles information when you use its features.
1. Information the App Uses
Location Information
The App may request foreground location permission when you choose to use the Qibla feature. Your device location is used to calculate the Qibla direction and distance to the Kaaba. The Qibla calculation is performed in the App. ISCCH does not intentionally store your precise location on its server through this feature.
You may deny location permission. If you do, the Qibla compass feature may not work correctly, but other App features can still be used.
Push Notification Information
If you allow notifications, the App obtains an Expo push notification token and device platform information, such as Android or iOS, and sends them to the ISCCH server so that ISCCH can send announcements, event reminders, prayer-related notices, and other community notifications.
The push token is used only for notification delivery. Invalid or no-longer-usable push tokens may be removed from our system.
Hadith AI Questions
If you use the Hadith AI feature when it is enabled, the question you submit is sent to the ISCCH server to generate a response. The request may be processed by an AI service provider used by ISCCH. ISCCH does not intentionally use Hadith AI questions for advertising or to build marketing profiles.
Technical and Network Information
Like most internet-connected apps and services, our server and third-party service providers may automatically receive limited technical information such as IP address, device/browser information, request timing, and diagnostic or security logs when network requests are made.
2. Third-Party Services
The App uses or may connect to third-party services to provide certain features, including:
- Expo services for app delivery and push notifications;
- prayer-time data services for daily prayer calculations;
- Qur’an data services for Surah, Arabic text, and English translation;
- an AI service provider for the Hadith AI feature when enabled;
- external websites or services opened through Donate, Contact, Volunteer, Live Stream, or similar links.
When you leave the App or use a third-party service, that provider’s own privacy policy and terms may apply.
3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect Through the App
The App does not currently require users to create a personal account or profile. The App does not intentionally collect your contacts, call history, SMS messages, microphone recordings, advertising ID for targeted advertising, or payment-card information.
If you choose to make a donation or use another external service, information you provide to that external service is handled by that service and is not entered directly into the ISCCH App.
4. How We Use Information
- provide Qibla direction and other requested App functions;
- deliver push notifications you have allowed;
- provide prayer times, Qur’an content, announcements, events, gallery, and community information;
- respond to Hadith AI questions when that feature is enabled;
- maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the App and its backend services;
- comply with applicable law or protect users, ISCCH, and the community where reasonably necessary.
5. Data Retention
Precise location used for Qibla is not intentionally stored by the ISCCH backend through the Qibla feature.
Push notification tokens may be retained while needed to deliver notifications and may be removed when they become invalid or are no longer needed.
Other technical or service data may be retained only for a reasonable period needed for security, troubleshooting, service operation, or legal obligations. Third-party providers may apply their own retention practices.
6. Your Choices
- deny or revoke location permission;
- deny or disable notifications;
- choose not to use Hadith AI;
- choose not to open external links.
Disabling a permission may limit the related feature but will not prevent use of unrelated App features.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect the App and information handled by our services. However, no internet or electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. Children’s Privacy
The ISCCH App is a general community and religious-information app and is not designed to collect personal information from children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 through the App.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when App features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will show a revised effective date.
